Tom brings to Top Gun Ventures veteran leadership and experience with companies that needed to transform their businesses, introduce new sources of revenue, and leverage new and disruptive technologies. His general management experience, covering small, mid-size and Fortune 50 organizations and passion for turning around businesses, introducing new products and services, as well as building the teams with the required skill sets, will be invaluable as he works with clients to provide “GameChanging” leaders.
Tom served on the executive committee as Senior Vice President of North America for Dice Holdings, Inc. leading dice.com – a premier career website for career minded technology professionals and employers looking to hire and interact with them. He led North American operations for Dice.com, managing a $120MM P&L at 40% + EBITDA margins and was one of the company’s public spokespersons – appearing on CNN News, Fox Business TV, National Public Radio and frequently in trade publications speaking about tech industry employment. Tom successfully led the brand’s turn around, emerging from Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2003, through IPO in 2007. Market Cap value increased from $30MM, immediately following emergence from Chapter 11, to a maximum value of $1.1Billion 3 years following the IPO. Tom led all aspects of go to market strategy, including sales channel diversification and expansion, marketing, advertising and communications strategy and product development.
Before joining Dice, Tom began his career in product management, successfully positioning and introducing new lines of business into highly competitive consumer products industries at Unilever. This was followed by 10 years as an executive at American Express, which culminated in the launch of American Express Interactive, in partnership with Expedia, the company’s first online travel booking product targeting business travelers and their employers.
Tom is actively involved in fund raising for causes and organizations that he has passions for. He currently serves as president of The Cancer Research & Treatment Fund (CR&T), in New York City. CR&T is a not-for-profit foundation that was founded in 1968 dedicated to exploring blood diseases as a gateway to the cure for all cancers. Additionally, effective July 1, 2016, Tom will assume the role as President of The Sigma Pi Educational Foundation at his alma mater, Cornell University. The foundation is dedicated to supporting education related programming that benefits youth of the Greater Ithaca, NY community as well as providing mentorship and education related programming for undergraduates.
He is a board member and Advisor for Rally Bus, a recent New York City start-up. The company’s technology connects people who are going to the same place, then delivers high-end buses to get them there and back.
Tom is a member of the Human Capital Institute (HCI), one of today’s fastest growing executive associations with members that share a conviction that human capital is the only sustainable competitive advantage in the modern economy.
He holds an MBA in marketing from the New York University Stern School of Business in New York City and BA in economics from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY.
